Challenge
E-lumin, one of Flair's partners specializing in design, recently helped launch 29000feet.com. The Web site serves as a tool for professional advisors who seek leads, as well as for people seeking to find an advisor on a specific topic. Just weeks before the site's launch, stakeholders requested a usability test in order to examine the ease-of-use of the site's registration and account management areas. It was critical to minimize the potential for user abandonment during a lengthy online interview process--an essential part of matching advisors and clients. Testing needed to be conducted at the E-lumin offices, with the ability for members of the development team to observe.

Solution
Using proven usability test methods and methodology, Flair's consultants planned, developed and prepared test questions, exercises and testing tasks, and conducted multiple usability sessions. Using Alucid's UsabilityWare usability testing software package, the Flair team setup an IP camera, test machine, logging machine and a viewing station allowing the E-lumin observers to watch the test from another room. Screen recordings as well as two different camera views were recorded for each test session, and DVDs were given to the client. The Flair team documented and analyzed the test results and prepared a usability test report and recommendations, which were handed over to the developers within days of the test. Recommendations from the test were immediately implemented, helping to ensure the best possible user experience at launch.
