FLAIR COMPLETES FIRST PHASE OF WEB SITE REDESIGN FOR MCDOUGAL LITTELL
Usability Testing Complete for Integration of Main Site and Online Store
Schaumburg, Ill., October 30, 2004-Flair Interactive Services, a Chicago-area
interactive marketing firm, has announced the completion of a major Web site redesign
for McDougal Littell, one of the nation's leading secondary education publishers.
McDougal Littell needed help with the integration of two separate sites-the McDougal
Littell public Web site and its online store-in order to present a single, unified image
to the user.
"In the preliminary phase, we looked at the two sites, each of which existed with its
own URL," said Cynthia Abat, a Flair associate who managed the project. "Our objective
was to develop a solution that would integrate the two sites into one seamless site,
while preserving the purpose, content and integrity of each one. We wanted to make sure
that site's users could continue to do their research on products without feeling
pressured to buy."
The Flair team developed wireframes for an integrated design and a prototype that
was used in usability test sessions conducted in March. Plans are to refine the
wireframes based on usability test results and use them as the basis for a complete
site redesign, scheduled to launch in January 2005.
McDougal Littell publishes secondary education resources for language arts,
social studies, math, science and world languages. The McDougal Littell Web site
(www.mcdougallittell.com) also offers unique features, such as state-specific resources,
home-schooling resources and Web-based teaching and support materials.
