FLAIR INTERACTIVE SERVICES REDESIGNS E-COMMERCE SITE FOR MAJOR
HOME RENOVATION RETAILER
Flair Team Widens Appeal of "Trade Only" Resource to Consumer
Audience
Des Plaines, Ill., March 26, 2004-Flair Interactive Services, an interactive
marketing firm serving businesses in the Chicagoland area, is preparing to launch
an e-commerce site for a leading Chicago-based home renovation retailer.
The objective of the redesign project was to position the site as the premier
source for home design and renovation and a resource for high-end designer products,
appliances and materials. "Prior to the redesign, the site was available to the
trade-architects and designers," said Michael Cook, a Flair information architecture
expert who led the redesign development. "Our goal was to provide an improved user
interface and a positive user experience for consumers."
The Flair team was responsible for all phases of the redesign-from creating the
brand flavor and information architecture to developing all content and help-related
functionality, including a new e-commerce back-end system. "After extensive competitive
analysis, our first step was to develop a modular wireframe system to accommodate
state-dependent and credit card transactions and to capture billing, shipping and
other customer information," said Cook.
The six-month project included extensive content updates for the site, including
the creation of more than 30 editorial articles. The Flair team worked with the Chicago
office of Tribal DDB, a digital marketing agency, in the Web redesign.
